On Friday 17 July, Endeavour Group Limited welcomed Standard 7 students from
Tegemeo Primary School, who were on a school excursion. Accompanying the students was the school principal, and five teachers.
Tegemeo Primary School is an English medium school and is
run under the ELCT (Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania) system.
The school is located in Karagwe district about 100 kilometres North West of Bukoba Town.
This co-education school has been a customer of Endeavour
Group Limited for the past five years. We have been proud to manufacture uniforms for the students, including skirts,
tunics, shorts and shirts.
The visit started with a general discussion about garments
and the steps involved in producing
garments from raw materials to end product. Students were enthusiastic and perceptive in reasoning out the steps in production.
Students enjoyed a tour of the factory where the factory
supervisor demonstrated the production process starting with laying out the
patterns, cutting procedures (including aspects of Occupational Health and Safety), bundling, sewing, pressing and finally quality assessing the finished product
We enjoyed the experience and feel the students, as
well as the teachers, gained some knowledge from the visit to the factory. Now students are fully aware of how their NGUO BORA uniforms are produced. Maybe several of these students may realise an interest in tailoring, and choose to join us for a tailoring apprenticeship at the completion of their schooling.
